APC s.a. has completed the preparation of the Multiannual National Strategic Plan for the Development of Aquaculture of the country for the new programming period 2021 - 2027, which was received by the Ministry of Rural Development and Food.

 

This Plan includes all the actions and interventions for the sustainable development of the aquaculture sector and is a basis for the financing of the sector in the Operational Program for Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture (EMFFA) 2021 - 2027 that will be implemented.

 

It will soon be on public consultation.

 

The preparation of a study for the revision / updating of the Multi-annual National Strategic Plan for the development of aquaculture in the new programming period 2021 - 2027 was assigned by the Ministry of Rural Development and Food to APC s.a.

This period (and especially the years 2021 - 2023) is crucial for the sector, as very important credits will be available from EMFF 2014 - 2020, EMFFA 2021 - 2027 and the Recovery Fund, which require an improved management system and a radically reformed institutional framework to support entrepreneurship.

The assignment of the project to APC s.a. is a recognition of the long-standing and in-depth knowledge of the industry and a prelude to the planning of a sustainable development of aquaculture in the country.

As we all know, the world is facing a state of emergency due to COVID-19 coronavirus. It is therefore necessary to take measures to limit its spread.

APC s.a. in this context and with the aim of protecting the health of all of us, it has also decided, the suspension of our offices on 2 Mnisikleous Street from 16.3.2020 to 10.4.2020 and the provision of work to all its employees remotely.

The President of the APC sa attended as a speaker the European Fish Mariculture Conference held in London on January 15-16.

Nikos Anagnopoulos' presentation was entitled "Developments of Fish Mariculture in the Mediterranean Area" and the discussion concerned the problems, trends and prospects of the sector, as well as the new market conditions.

After acting as technical advisor of the Hellenic Aquaculture Producers Organization's (HAPO) first (1st) Production and Trade Plan 2018 - 2019, APC also took over the preparation and monitoring of the second (2nd) Plan, to be implemented in 2020-2021.

The second HAPO's Production and Trade Plan will include a series of actions for the promotion of "Fish from Greece", with an estimated budget more than € 7,000,000.

 

APC s.a. signed cooperation agreements with both the Hellenic Center for Marine Research (HCMR) and the Region of Western Greece, for the implementation of the EU-funded Program ARIEL (via ADRION INTERREG), which aims at strengthening the networking and cooperation in Adriatic-Ionian countries in its fields small coastal fisheries and aquaculture.

In this context, APC will organize and participate in capacity building seminars, create training kits and support the creation of clusters.

Project in UAE

 

A project concerning the development of a fish farming unit in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, was undertaken by APC s.a.

An EU experts meeting was held in Brussels on 3 May regarding Marine Knowledge.

The aim is to gather data on EMODnet database, so to provide data processing and reporting, especially for marine users of all EU marine areas, regarding bathymetry, bottom, physicochemical and biological parameters and existing economic/human activities.

On behalf of the aquaculture industry, Nikos Anagnopoulos presented the needs of enterprises, especially of the SMEs. He asked that the Ministries and the National Research Centers of the member states to make available to the aquaculturists all the existing knowledge and he proposed a consultation to be carried out with the sectoral institutions, in order to establish a mutually beneficial cooperation.

 

 

 

 

APC chairman, Nikos Anagnopoulos, participated as a speaker at a meeting held in Podgorica, Montenegro, as part of the European Program "ARIEL - Promoting Small Scale Fisheries and Aquaculture Transnational Networking in the Adriatic-Ionian Macroregion", which is  funded by INTERREG ADRION, project code No.278


Nikos Anagnopoulos developed the subject "Greece: Coastal Fisheries and Aquaculture - Partnership Initiatives".

 

In the context of the HydroMedit 2018 conference held in Volos, APC sa, in cooperation with the Pan-hellenic Society of Technologists Ichthyologist, organized a discussion / round table on:


"The future of Greek Fisheries and Aquaculture. The Next Programming Period 2021-2017»


APC sa CEO, Nikos Anagnopoulos, analyzed the critical points of the Proposal for EMFF 2021-2027 which will determine the future of Greek Fisheries and Aquaculture, while a fruitful dialogue with representatives of the agencies and the administration took place, regarding the need to prepare and shape national positions in the negotiations that occur.
